Hey, there! I’m Bahiyyih.

I’m Bahiyyih Young (she/her), a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alaska. Thanks for stopping by! I’m glad you found your way here.

I’ve trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, including Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with people from all kinds of backgrounds and life experiences. I love this work — the honesty, the humor, the courage it takes to show up and be human.

I’m someone who values truth-telling and isn’t afraid to say the hard things — but I do it with warmth, empathy, and curiosity (and a touch of humor when it helps). Therapy with me is real, relational, and grounded in respect.

My work is guided by a deep belief in the inherent worth of every person, the importance of meaning and justice, and a genuine appreciation for the messy, beautiful diversity of life here in this place we call home.

My Approach

Many of the people I work with have carried a lot—sometimes across generations. You might be trying to make sense of how those experiences have shaped your sense of safety, belonging, and connection, or how the weight of trauma and systemic oppression still shows up in your relationships and daily life.

My approach is attachment-focused and trauma-informed, rooted in the belief that healing happens in relationship—with ourselves, with one another, and within the wider communities that hold us. I strive to create a space that feels steady, honest, and restorative—a place where you don’t have to carry everything alone.

I’m someone who values honesty and directness and isn’t afraid to name the hard things—but I do so with empathy, curiosity, and often a bit of humor when it helps to make the weight feel a little lighter. My work is real and relational, grounded in respect, trust, and the understanding that healing takes both courage and connection.

I’m deeply aware of how systemic prejudice and violence affect the body, mind, and spirit, and I hold deep respect for the wisdom and resilience that people carry in the face of those forces. I especially love working with people who are navigating identity, belonging, and the ongoing impacts of both personal and collective trauma.

Together, we’ll move at your pace toward safety, connection, and wholeness. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can exhale, find steadiness, and reconnect with your own capacity for healing and growth.
